All of the episodes, all at once. Well, kinda. You see, Netflix has developed a workaround to that, a loophole, if you will. Releasing series, such as “You” in “parts.” No, not episodes. How dare you even insinuate such a thing!? These are parts! Totally different.

At the outset of the fourth season of Netflix’s show “You,” the stalker and serial killer protagonist, played by Penn Badgley, has once again absconded from his past life, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. His inner monologue, equal parts enjoyably sardonic and disgustingly disturbed, assures viewers that no, for real, this time, he’s going to lie low and stop killing people.

While HBO’s “The Last of Us” will continue to dominate the discourse, there are still plenty of new and returning series likely to start conversations of their own. With a decent mix of premieres along with series entering their final seasons and some of the big hitters coming back in March (“Succession” and “Yellowjackets,” to name just two,) February is poised for a lot of catch-up and new discoveries, with shows such as “Hello Tomorrow!

Now, as we approach the release of the first half of Season 4, “You” is bigger than ever and easily one of the most successful streaming shows on the planet.

He’s never been shy with offering his opinion on the state of the TV marketplace, and honestly, his “takes” are pretty spot-on, most of the time. Of course, we always have to take what he says with a modicum of salt, just based on the inherent bias he carries, representing FX. However, with the recent headlines that Netflix has garnered based on their outlandish “ratings” for programs like “Sex Education,” “You,” and the film “Bird Box,” Landgraf is ready to set the record straight.”

READ MORE: FX CEO Breaks Down 4 Streaming Services That Will Dominate & Warns Of “Biggest Hangover” For TV Industry

Based on the fact that streamers like to measure the number of video starts, not the average audience, Landgraf said, at a recent TCA event (via THR), the claims by Netflix are “not remotely accurate representation of a long-form program performance.”

Bringing some data to back up his claim, Landgraf said that “You,” which Netflix has claimed to be watched by over 40 million users, isn’t the massive, world-dominating hit the streaming service would like you to believe.

But lately, when it serves the company’s best interests, the streaming service will throw out some viewing totals to show how popular some content is. This was made famous by those early numbers for the Sandra Bullock film “Bird Box,” which touted viewership in the tens of millions. And now, Netflix seems to be doing it again for a couple of the company’s newest series.
