And, perhaps more surprisingly, despite “Shogun” and “The Bear” leading all programs in nominations, more categories are up for grabs than you might think.

The Marvel Animation revival of the “X-Men: The Animated Series” with Marvel’s “X-Men ’97” is becoming one of the more popular animated projects ever to grace Disney+. It is so popular with fans at the moment that the creators have been asked all kinds of questions. Would they want to make an animated “X-Men ’97” movie? You bet. ’90s kids and longtime “X-Men” fans will get a chance to revisit their childhood as Marvel Animation and Disney+ are releasing a continuation of the Fox Kids series with “X-Men ’97” this week. And studio brass is already teasing more mutant teams are coming. Brad Winderbaum, who is overseeing both animation and television divisions at Marvel, has revealed to Black Girl Nerds during an interview that X-Factor, X-Force, and other mutant groups (possibly Excalibur too) should be expected in the streaming series.

Those awaiting several trailers from Marvel’s animation panel at Comic-Con were disappointed this afternoon; of all the various shows in development, the only trailer that arrived was the just-released “I Am Groot,” starring Vin Diesel’s “Guardians of The Galaxy” character.

That meant that ‘90s kids likely grew up watching “Spider-Man: The Animated Series,” “Batman: The Animated Series,” and of course, perhaps the best of them all (nostalgia-wise), “X-Men: The Animated Series.” Well, it appears Marvel knows that the ‘X-Men’ animated hole in your heart has remained empty for too long, and the ‘90s ‘X-Men’ cartoon is returning.
