On TCM‘s “Talking Pictures” podcast, the director confirmed she’s done making “Wonder Woman” movies for DC. “Yeah, for the time being, or easily forever,” she said, reiterating, “Easily forever, yeah.”

That sounds definitive, but maybe James Gunn and Peter Safran have someone else in mind to helm a film about the superheroine?

In the spotlight arguably more than he’s ever been in the past, “Moon Knight” director and executive producer Mohamed Diab has been very vocal about using Middle Eastern culture and, specifically, Egypt in modern superhero projects. The country plays a significant role in the new Marvel Studios streaming series as Egyptian mythology is directly tied to Marc Spector/Steven Grant’s alter-ego, Moon Knight.

That’s the saying that you’ve probably heard a million times before. Basically, the sentiment is that it doesn’t matter how you got to the end result, as long as everyone is happy when it’s resolved. Well, in the case of Gal Gadot and her contract negotiation for “Wonder Woman 1984,” it appears that the actress was willing to gamble her role in the franchise and derail Warner Bros.’ plans if she wasn’t given a significant pay raise.

This made their other announcement about all 2021 releases following the hybrid releases without working out deals with talent and production partners extremely puzzling.

While there are fans and filmmakers that worry about the future of the theatrical experience, you have business-minded folks that understand there needs to be content released and films don’t make money when they’re sitting on the shelf.

This is just a fact. More perspectives mean more stories and more interesting films. And thankfully, as a new study points out, in terms of female representation behind the camera, the film industry continues to gain more inclusivity.

The film has grossed $120 million globally so far,, and that’s a definitely muted response, but these are not normal times. The news cycle for “Wonder Woman 1984” is nearly over— though nearly falling below the rotten level of Rotten Tomatoes feels like something of a negative upcoming milestone (it’s a 60% now, one more percentage drop and it turns rotten) — but we’d be remiss if we didn’t recount this incredible story from ‘WW84’ director Patty Jenkins on Marc Maron‘s WTF podcast about the making of the original film and just how nervous and conflicted Warner Bros.

So, needless to say, her IMDB (outside of TV gigs) isn’t littered with a lot of feature film experience. This made her leap to superhero films pretty surprising as we reached the 2010s.

Whether that difference is good or bad is up to you, but there’s no denying that director Patty Jenkins has crafted a second ‘Wonder Woman’ film that shares very little in common with the original. Well, stylistically, it does have one major similarity—the opening scene.

And that’s probably due to the cycle of news and social media in today’s modern world, and perhaps a bit of (not necessarily unwarranted) resentment too. The narrative goes a little like this: hand-selected critics early and rave about the film with hyperbole. Some critics caution it’s not all that, but the film balloons to an 89% certified fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

That means that director Patty Jenkins probably has some thoughts on this incredibly important deal that could be the final nail in the coffin of the traditional theatrical release model.

And judging by comments made by Jenkins about the original film, she totally understands the main issue with “Wonder Woman” and explains why it doesn’t necessarily fit with the rest of the feature.

Well, Patty Jenkins, director of the film, understands this concern. She’s worried about theaters, too.

Some executives applauded the audacity of WarnerMedia to make such a bold move. While others, mostly filmmakers and actors, were not so happy with the news.
