Interesting. A project we nixed from our Most Anticipated 2010 list at the last minute because it seemed to be going nowhere: “I’m With Cancer” (aka actually technically still Untitled, but hey, we need to refer to it as something) seems to have found new life force.

Nicole Holofcener (“Friends With Money,” “Lovely & Amazing”) was set to direct the cancer-dramedy based on the personal experiences of screenwriter Will Reiser. Seth Rogen was co-starring and producing through his deal with Mandate (that also has his “Jay and Seth Vs.

Director Nicole Holofcener Leaves Seth Rogen, James McAvoy Comedy, ‘I’m With Cancer’

Call it a benign tumor so far, but there’s been some complications with the Seth Rogen comedy, “I’m With Cancer.”

The project was supposed to shoot in January, but according to THR, director Nicole Holofcener (“Friends With Money,” “Lovely & Amazing”) has removed herself from the project.

The film stars James McAvoy and Rogen (in a supporting role, he’s also a producer) and the script is written by Will Reisner based on his “I’m With Cancer,” a comedic novel about being a young, 20-something suddenly hit with the disease (though it appears that book has not been released yet).

James McEvoy Joins Seth Rogen In Nicole Holofcener’s Cancer Comedy

James McAvoy has joined the cast as the lead of the disease comedy — formerly titled, I’m With Cancer” — which already has Seth Rogen attached in a supporting role (he’s also a producer on the project as well).

Nicole Holofcener (“Lovely & Amazing”) has been tapped to direct the now-untitled Will Reisner script based on his “I’m With Cancer” novel.

McAvoy will play the 25-year-old protagonist who learns he has cancer with Rogen presumably playing a close friend.

Seth Rogen To Get ‘Cancer’ After ‘Green Hornet’

Do we all remember Seth Rogen’s new-ish project, “I’m With Cancer,” a comedic autobiographical script by Will Reiser (an associate producer on episodes of “Da Ali G Show”) that he and his writing partner Evan Goldberg will produce with Ben Karlin (“The Daily Show With Jon Stewart”) that was announced last November?

Don’t worry, it’s not like they’ve just picked some random ailment to laugh in the face at. The story is Reiser’s account of struggling to beat cancer, centering on a 25-year-old who finds out he has the disease.
