Even by the standards of the mostly terrible box-office summer we’re having so far, Fox are having a pretty terrible time at the moment. Coming off the biggest hit in history with “Avatar,” they’ve had two high-profile duds so far with “Marmaduke” and “The A-Team,” and their high hopes for the Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz action comedy “Knight & Day” were thwarted when it opened to a meagre $27 million over 5 days, despite a near-inescapable publicity push.

Full ‘Knight & Day’ Trailer Only Slighter Better Than The Title

Roundabout Christmas, we got our first look at the Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz/James Mangold romantic-action-comedy “Knight & Day,” and it was… well, a little underwhelming. Most of the comedy fell a little flat, and some of the action felt a bit weightless. IMDB premiered a new trailer for the movie last night, and it does at least seem like an improvement.

The film follows a woman who becomes embroiled with a secret agent, and this longer clip gives a clearer look at some of the supporting cast (Mark Blucas, Viola Davis and Peter Sarsgaard), as well as a better idea of the ambiguous nature of Cruise’s character.

Beyonce Remaking ‘A Star Is Born’? Johnny Depp Directs Music Video

Warner Bros. are trying to push ahead with their long-in-development remake of “A Star Is Born.” The project, which has had previous drafts written by Stephen Rivele & Christopher Wilkinson (“Ali”) and Reggie Rock Bythewood (“Notorious”), has a new scribe in the shape of Will Fetters, the writer of the upcoming Robert Pattinson vehicle “Remember Me.” Beyonce Knowles is linked with the lead role of the picture, which, like the 1976 Barbara Streisand version, will focus on the record industry rather than Hollywood.

Jason Reitman’s ‘Up In The Air’ To Debut At Telluride? Mark Blucas Joins ‘Wichita,’ Rashida Jones Teams With Chris Messina For ‘Mongamy’

– Jason Reitman’s “Up In The Air” is reportedly set to screen at this year’s Telluride Film Festival before its Toronto premiere. Other films rumored for the festival are John Hillcoat’s “The Road,” Werner Herzog’s “My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done?” and Lone Scherfig’s “An Education.”

– Marc Blucas has joined the cast of James Mangold’s untitled “Wichita” project starring Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz and Maggie Grace. Blucas will play the fireman ex- of Diaz’s character, an upbeat Midwestern woman who goes on a blind date a man (Cruise) who turns out to be a federal agent.

“Lost” actress Maggie Grace is set to join Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in Fox’s spy thriller, now untitled project, formerly known as “Wichita.” The James Mangold project will follow a lonely woman (Diaz) whose world is turned upside down when a blind date turns out to be a super spy (Cruise) who whisks her away on a violent worldwide journey to protect a powerful battery that holds the key to an infinite power source.

Tom Cruise To Team With Cameron Diaz In James Mangold’s ‘Wichita’

After we recently profiled the panoply of projects laid at his feet for consideration, the great Tom Cruise has chosen, and is now set to join Cameron Diaz in the James Mangold helmed action-comedy “Wichita,” according to Variety.

Cruise and Diaz are reportedly in advanced negotiations after both approved the script which tells the story of a secret agent who pops in and out of the life of a single woman.

Based on an original script by Patrick O’Neill, “Wichita” has since undergone rewrites from the Diaz-approved Frank and Dana Fox (“What Happens In Vegas”), the Cruise-approved Scott Frank (“Out of Sight”) and from the Mangold-approved Laeta Kalogridis (“Shutter Island”).
