Marvel Comics spans a multitude of genres and subgenres beyond traditional superheroes and super geniuses, and over the years, Marvel Studios has tried to explore them all. “Guardians Of The Galaxy” opened up the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the “Thor” films have been able to examine gods and fantasy, “Doctor Strange” movies unlocked the mystical realms, and recent and upcoming characters like Moon Knight, Daredevil, and Blade seem poised to finally unveil the street-level supernatural sub-genre element of Marvel.

While it had been rumored and reported for months before, it wasn’t until this year’s D23 that we actually got confirmation that Marvel Studios was going to release a Halloween special on Disney+ titled “Werewolf By Night.” But when the studio finally released a teaser, not only did fans realize that Marvel Studios isn’t just dipping its toes into horror, “Werewolf By Night” is leaping headfirst into the deep end, embracing the old-school Universal Monsters-era of the genre.

Marvel Studios is currently continuing to make blockbuster films, but in 2021, the studio ventured into the realm of streaming TV with a series of shows on Disney+. In 2022, it appears the studio is going even further by making at least one TV Special, an untitled Halloween show that is expected to air next October. And apparently, the studio isn’t willing to phone it in, as Marvel Studios has found yet another top-tier actor to join the MCU, Gael Garcia Bernal.

Marvel Studios is looking to do more to flesh out the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Still, it looks like they’re planning on doing more to tackle more horror/supernatural corners. A new report from The Wrap mentions that the studio is moving forward with an untitled “Halloween Special” for Disney+ with production to begin next year and are looking to a Latino actor in their 30s to possibly play Werewolf By Night, a horror superhero.
