Looks like our intelligence was on the money.

In July we reported that F. Gary Gray had bowed out of directing the gestating video game adaptation “Kane & Lynch” starring Jamie Foxx and Bruce Willis and that French filmmaker Patrick Alessandrin (“District 13: Ultimatum”) was being sought for the gig.

Turns out this is all true and now Alessandrin — who was scheduled to start shooting the film next month — has also bailed on the director’s chair according to the L.A.

Wayne Kramer Apparently Enjoyed ‘Public Enemies,’ Set To Direct ‘Pretty Boy Floyd’

Wayne Kramer hasn’t really followed up on the promise suggested by his debut “The Cooler;” an enjoyable, well-acted, if tonally uneven, crime thriller. There’s a few pulpy pleasures to be found in follow-up “Running Scared,” but not many, while would-be “Traffic” knock-off “Crossing Over” died a quick death.

The South African helmer was briefly discussed as a potential director of video game adaptation “Kane & Lynch” not so long ago, but he’s now signed his name to his next project: he’ll direct the period gangster movie “Pretty Boy Floyd” for Myriad Pictures.

Wayne Kramer In Talks To Direct ‘Kane & Lynch’ With Jamie Foxx & Bruce Willis

Our interest in “Kane & Lynch” has been pretty much nil, but now that Wayne Kramer is rumored to be in talks to direct the picture we’re just gonna go ahead and take a pass on this one.

Currently set to star Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx, the video game adaptation will see Willis playing a mercenary who gets framed, and then is broken out of prison by his former mates, who’ve kidnapped his wife and daughter, and give him 72 hours to recover a doomsday device.

The drama between, “Crossing Over,” its director Wayne Kramer, actor Sean Penn and producer Harvey Weinstein will not go away.

You’ll recall a stink was made in December when Hollywood Elsewhere reported that Sean Penn disliked the immigration drama so much he allegedly asked to be removed from the picture and the Weinstein’s — reportedly afraid to mess with stars they might need in the future (Penn) — obliged the request much to the chagrin of the director Kramer.

Wayne Kramer’s Immigration Drama, ‘Crossing Over,’ Gets Savaged By Critics

We were once taken to task for being unfair and facetiously dismissing the Wayne Kramer film, “Crossing Over.” But the diagnosis, frankly didn’t look positive. Harvey Weinstein had allegedly (meaning very probably) taken his scissor hands to the picture and mutilated
Kramer’s “Crash”-like intersection of race, immigration and bigotry in a multi-tiered Angelenos drama.

Obviously a picture on this subject needs to be handled with grace and an even hand, but Sean Penn found the finished version so vile he reportedly asked for his six-minute cameo to be excised from the film, and indeed, he’s not in it.

Despite its homoerotic title, “I Love You, Man,” is not a tale of two men in love. No it’s actually a tale of two men in friend. It stars Paul Rudd as a male-challenged pussy who’s needs a best man for his wedding to Rashida Jones. He finds a bff in slovenly and wild Jason Segel, but their budding “bromance” actually causes problems for his impending nuptials. It comes out March 20 and will premiere at SXSW where there will be panels n’ shit.
