Walton Goggins has experienced the excitement of being part of a critically acclaimed series. He was a key cast member of both FX’s breakout programs “The Shield” and “Justified.” In fact, in 2011, he earned a Supporting Actor in a Drama Series nomination for his performance in the latter. That being said, his experience on Prime Video’s massive hit “Fallout,” has, so far, been at another level.

Adapted from the popular video game by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet, this alternate timeline series finds Goggins initially portraying Cooper Howard, a movie star who has fallen on somewhat hard times before a post-apocalyptic war ravages the world.

Startlingly glib, one-note, and yet self-assured in its vacant design, the series reveals its shallow hand very early. “Fallout” endlessly reprises the wholesome quaintness vs. the grotesque or freakishly ruthlessness mode of apposition and fails to do anything remotely interesting with it, reinforcing what swiftly becomes a long, tiresome pattern and slog.

Amazon’s Prime Video is going deep into genre in order to lure more subscribers. The streamer is moving ahead with season two of “The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power” and already has a plan to turn the acclaimed game “God of War” (the recent two installments exploring a version of Norse mythology) into a live-action series too. They’re also doing the same with the beloved post-apocalypse video game franchise “Fallout.”

Thankfully, we now know when the “Fallout” series will debut as Variety revealed that its debut date on Prime Video will be April 12, 2024.

The story of “Dreamin’ Wild” is a pretty damn fascinating one beyond its terrific filmmaker (Bill Pohlad) and its excellent cast (led by Casey Affleck and Zooey Deschanel, to name just a few). In short, Light In The Attic, a fantastic Seattle record label that unearths undiscovered gems, did just that with Donnie and Joe Emerson. Teenage boys with dreams of rock stardom, they self-released Dreamin’ Wild in 1979, a bedroom-made album of rock, pop jams, raw funk, and yacht rock, and of course, no one really noticed; it fell into obscurity, and they went on with their “normal” adult lives.

The name Sigmund Freud often immediately comes to mind when someone says the word “psychology,” but Carl Rogers deserves attention as well.
