The Last Word On ‘Fox’ Imbroglio?

All the hub-bub made between Wes Anderson and “Fantastic Mr. Fox” cinematographer Tristan Oliver? Anderson has replied once more, this time to the L.A. Times who started the whole fuss.

Anderson admits that he and Oliver butted heads, but says it’s part of the creative process. He doesn’t really let him off the hook for his comments though, calling them, “unprofessional.”

He’s right, but he loses us when he tries to argue that the word “sociopath” — one of the epithets Oliver lobbied at him — “has a somewhat different meaning in England than in America.” Uhh, we’re pretty sure it doesn’t, but whatever.

Wes Anderson Responds To ‘Fox’ Controversy, Admits To Tensions, But Says DP Relationships Are Fine

Wes Anderson has responded to the recent controversy over his working practices during the shooting of “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” while sitting down for an interview with Jeffrey Wells at Hollywood Elsewhere. Anderson doesn’t deny that there were tensions, but suggests that any differences have since been resolved, and that DoP Tristan Oliver was misquoted. He also says the interview with the L.A. Times took place in April of this year and their relationship has since evolved and become better.

Beef Watch: Wes Anderson Vs. Animation Crew Controversy On ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’ Heats Up

Man, just when you thought the whole “controversy” about Wes Anderson directing parts of his upcoming animated film, “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” via video chat, phone and email was over, the L.A. Times stirs it up again with quotes from both parties and quite a few rather stinging and unfavorable ones from Anderson’s British animation crew.

It’s probably safe to say that Anderson won’t ever be working again with cinematographer Tristan Oliver. “It’s not in the least bit normal,” Oliver said about Anderson’s proclivities to work via email and not on the East London set.

Was ‘Fantastic Fox’ Animation Production Not Entirely Err… Fantastic?

Wes Anderson can’t catch a break either these days. We playfully jabbed/joked about the phoned-in voice performances of “The Fantastic Mr. Fox,” and now Vulture is taking him to task for apparently emailing in some of his direction via quotes from those that worked on the film..

Evidently the film’s cinematographer threw him under the bus a little. Asked about their working relationship, the DP Tristan Oliver said:

“I think Wes doesn’t understand what you can do, and he often wants us to do what you can’t do, and the length of time the process takes … I don’t think he quite comprehends that, and how difficult it is to change something once you’ve started.
