Variety reports that James Cameron‘s blockbuster moved past the director “Tiantic” on the highest-grossing movies of all time list to #3 over the weekend. That makes three James Cameron movies with over a $2 billion worldwide gross: 2009’s “Avatar” at $2.923 billion; “The Way of Water” at $2.2432 billion; and “Titanic” with $2.2428 billion.

Even 25 years after the original release of “Titanic,” it’s hard to separate Leonardo DiCaprio from his role as Jack Dawson. But according to Cameron, DiCaprio nearly didn’t get the part because, on some level, the actor thought he had already “made it.”

Granted that conversion 3D was particularly bad, and yes, upping 2D-shot films into 3D looks pretty lame and filmmakers like Christopher Nolan and possibly even Zack Snyder are not sold on the process yet (Nolan wouldn’t be rushed for “Inception” and decided against it and Snyder may not 3D-ize his next picture, “Sucker Punch”).

Even James Cameron, one of the few people who has shot authentic 3D with “Avatar” is against it.
