For the occasion, the magazine got the “Dune” star to sit down with legendary director Martin Scorsese for an epic conversation.

Why Scorsese, exactly? Well, they collaborated on a new Blue de Chanel fragrance campaign a few months back (Chalamet starred, Scorsese directed; you can watch it below), and that was part of the hook; the native New Yorkers were obviously equally in awe, and inspired by one another during this interview.

They’ve talked about healthcare reform, immigration, civil rights, and the economy, among various other topics. Now, the field has seemingly dwindled down to just Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders. And no, we’re not here to tell you who to vote for, but if you’re wondering which candidate watches better films, maybe Sanders might win your vote.

As the 2010s come to a close, we’ve been agonizing over this (long-delayed) list for half a year now and even had to take a break and put it away this summer when things got too contentious and overwhelming. And then there’s the notion of resonance and what really lasts and is released too late (Greta Gerwig’s “Little Women” is phenomenal, for example, but it’s not even released yet, and it’s just going to have to sit this one out).

The film, which starred Leonardo DiCaprio as sleazy businessman Jordan Belfort, ended up nominated for five Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and currently stands as the filmmaker’s most successful box office release, earning almost $400 million worldwide. But for legendary actress Julie Andrews, Scorsese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” still stands as one of her biggest regrets.

Sandwiched between the fall of Blockbuster (RIP) and the rise to digital streaming, everyone was going to their local grocery store or gas station to rent the latest and greatest movies. While they’re not as ubiquitous as they once were, Redbox is still alive and well renting movies to those that…don’t use computers? And now, they’ve released what is their Top 15 most-rented films of all time.

Through style and storytelling, the veteran director knows how to thrust you into the frame, propelling you with forward motion into the action at hand. In moments both quiet and loud, subdued and bold, he lets his enthusiastic influence been seen and felt in every single frame. That can often be seen in his use of fast dolly zoom shots, which have been a fixture of his works since 1973’s “Mean Streets,” as made evident in the newest video compilation from Vimeo editor Jorge Luengo Ruiz.

More films than are worth counting take a crack at understanding the convoluted and paradoxical nature of this “dream,” and for the most part the principle idea is the same: Americans believe money will be our savior. But, as some films dare to posit: money will also be our downfall, our ruin, and can be the epicenter of our unhappiness.

Drew Morton’s new video essay for Fandor Keyframe, “The American Dream In Film,” makes the argument that these films, ones such as “Citizen Kane” and “The Wolf Of Wall Street,” are, for lack of a better term, oppressive.
