Amy Adams, Chris Cooper & Rashida Jones Set To Join Muppet Movie

Amy Adams, Chris Cooper and Rashida Jones are in negotiations to join the Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller scribed Muppet movie which is still without a title.

The project, which is gearing up for a November shoot, is one of a few options Adams was eyeing before signing on. The film is a big one for Disney, as it’s a return to a franchise that hasn’t been on the big screen in quite a few years.

Pixar Making ‘Dr. Strange’ Movie? Don’t Bet On It

Over at Bad Librarianship (via Cinemablend), cartoonish Brendan McCarthy was talking up his recent “Spider-Man: Fever” miniseries, which hits stores this week as a trade paperback (it’s seriously brilliant – everyone should buy ten copies), and let slip that Pixar might be working on its first superhero movie, post-Marvel acquisition.

Jason Segel’s ‘Muppet’ Movie Gets A Christmas 2011 Release Date

There’s a good reason why “Get Him To The Greek” director Nicholas Stoller has been doing a lot of talking about “The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time,” the new upcoming Muppets movie he co-wrote with Jason Segel that’s being directed by James Bobin (dir. “Flight of the Conchords”).

The film now has a release date. Tentatively titled “The Muppets,” the film, starring Segel, has been scheduled for a December 25, 2011 date by Buena Vista/Disney.

Details On Jason Segel’s ‘The Greatest Muppet Movie Of All Time’

You’ll recall that two week’s ago, news hit that James Bobin (dir. “Flight of the Conchords”) was officially attached to direct Disney’s new Muppet movie.

Written by Jason Segel (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall,” TV’s “Freaks and Geeks,” “How I Met Your Mother”) and Nicholas Stoller (dir. “Forgetting Sarah Marshall”), the script has been previously known as “The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made,” but the film, and script — that’s evidently somewhat hard to get your hands on — is actually now called, “The Greatest Muppet Movie of All Time.”

A friend of ours would not share said screenplay, said it was still being kept under semi-wraps, but did share quite a few details with us including the basic plot synopsis.

‘Flight of the Conchords’ Director James Bobin To Direct Muppet Movie?

Since it was announced a couple of years back that “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” duo Jason Segel and Nicholas Stoller would write, and Stoller would direct, a new Muppet movie for Disney, there hasn’t been a lot of news on the project, other than a possible title: “The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made!” and we weren’t even sure if the project would ever happen as both Segel and Stoller are busy boys, and already have quite a bit on their plate.

What’s Next For Judd Apatow? Jonah Hill’s ‘The Middle Child’? Vehicles For David Krumholtz Or Ed Helms?

The Hollywood Reporter has written what essentially amounts to a “What’s Next For Judd Apatow?” piece (it’s called Judd Apatow finds himself at a crossroads). The article basically talks about whether “Funny People” hurt the Apatow brand (no) and where he might go next — continuing in the vein of more serious work? Or retreating to more digestible concepts like the “Knocked-Up” premise of schlub impregnates hot girl.

Most interesting to us is the fact that a few projects we took a pretty exhaustive and thorough look at in September 2007, are apparently still being considered.
