Paul Feig is a household name in the genre of comedy. From creating series such as “Freaks and Geeks” to directing massive hit films like “Bridesmaids” and “Spy,” Feig has really become one of the best comedic directors of the past couple of decades. Is it just me or has there really not been much buzz about Netflix’s big-budget fantasy film, “The School for Good and Evil?” The cast is superb. It’s based on bestselling source material. Paul Feig, though not a sure thing, is a perfectly capable filmmaker. That said, the film is arriving on the streamer in one week and there really isn’t much discourse about how excited folks are to see what should be the first in a potential new franchise.

Netflix’s Geeked Week got off to a flying start yesterday, with new trailers dropping for some of the most highly-anticipated series of the year, including “The Umbrella Academy,” “The Sandman,” and “Resident Evil.” Today, it’s all things movies, and the most star-studded among the streaming giant’s lineup is “The School for Good and Evil.”

Originally a series of six books written by Soman Chainani, “The School for Good and Evil” charts the fantastical misadventures of two girls, Sophie (Sophia Anne Caruso) and Agatha (Sofia Wylie), during their time at the titular School for Good and Evil, a place where children are taken to become either fairytale heroes or villains.

Paul Feig has lined up his next feature film, and it appears the comedy director is venturing into the world of YA fantasy in the new film, “The School of Good and Evil.”

According to THR, Feig will direct the feature, based on the novel “The School of Good and Evil” written by Soman Chainani. The story follows two young girls, Sophie and Agatha, who are about to enter the titular schools, where they will be chosen to attend either one of the fairy tale training academies, the School for Good (which include alums such as Snow White and Cinderella) or the School for Evil.
