That’s arguably the very story of Wu-Tang Clan, an unpredictable, combustible, and disparate group of Staten Island rappers put together by the RZA, the producer and visionary of the group. And against the odds, while living in the projects, he kept the massive group of talent together and steered them to hip hop greatness. That’s essentially the story of Hulu’s “Wu-Tang: An American Saga,” an against-the-odds tale of talent and perseverance and trying to make it in the music business in the ’90s, amongst tons of obstacles.

Written by Derek Kolstad, the narrative architect of the “John Wick” franchise, and produced by David Leitch— the co-director and producer of “John Wick: Chapter 1,” who left the franchise direct some of the aforementioned movies— “Nobody” reads a little like Leitch and Kolstad looking to reunite and play again in a similar universe (only with Leitch too busy to actually direct).

This biweekly column sifts through all of those choices to pluck out the movies most worth your time, no matter how you’re watching.

There’s not much to speak of in terms of new releases this week, aside from a new (and enjoyable) Werner Herzog documentary, but no worries; we’ve got an embarrassment of riches from the catalog, including three great New York movies from Criterion, three engaging Clint Eastwood movies from KL Studio Classics, a pair of ‘80s comedies, and an Allison Anders gem that’s ripe for rediscovery.

Robert Downey Jr., a cute French bulldog and Zach Galifianakis sporting what looks to be a perm or jheri curls. It’s some ghastly hair for sure, but that’s probably the genius of director Todd Phillips.

It’s your first look at Phillips’ post-“The Hangover” feature called, “Due Date” and the concept doesn’t sound radically different.

“The Hangover,” is of course about four guys on a Vegas trip that lose the groom and have to get him home on time for his wedding.

– Stanley Tucci will play a club manager in the musical “Burlesque,” directed by Steve Antin (yes, Troy in “The Goonies”). Cher, in her first role since her cameo in “Stuck on You,” will play a veteran dancer who takes a small town girl (Christina Aguilera) under her wing. Tucci’s built up enough goodwill that we won’t begrudge him a paycheck job like this, but it does sound nearly unbearable, particularly considering Antin’s involvement in the Pussycat Dolls.

Ah, candidness is so refreshing. “Babylon A.D.” opens up this weekend and despite a score composed by the RZA and Hans Zimmer, it looks otherwise pretty worthless to anyone with half a brain.

Hell, even the director of the film, Frenchman Mathieu Kassovitz, thinks so (you’ll remember his as the lovable inept bomb maker from Spielberg’s “Munich”), but he’s not taking much of the blame.

“I’m very unhappy with the film.

How fresh is this? Wu-Tang Clan magnateThe RZA and celebrated Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer (“The Lion King,” “Gladiator,” “The Thin Red Line”) have teamed-up to do the score to the upcoming film, “Babylon A.D.” starring Vin Diesel. “The RZA’s team and Hans Zimmer’s team have combined to create a hybrid kind of score for this movie that’s based in the future. So I think it’s going to be a good vibe for the audience out there, and it’s a good movie anyway – a very thought-provoking movie,” the Wu-Tang Abbot said.
