The Netflix series “The OA” certainly had a following, and the team behind the sci-fi show is reuniting with another genre project. FX has announced via a press release circulated by outlets like Deadline has revealed that Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij are working together on a whodunnit limited series, “Retreat.”

It sort of sounds like an amplified version of murder mysteries such as “Knives Out” or likely similar to something like “Clue,” with a Gen Z spin.

“The OA” co-creators Brit Marling and Zal Batmanglij deserve some much needed time for a long vacation to decompress from the two-year marathon that was creating ‘Part II’ of their groundbreaking Netflix original series. One of the most narratively and technically unorthodox shows, the production behind “The OA” is almost as much of an enigma as the show itself. Defying traditional television production schedules, throwing out standard pattern budgets during production due to the fact that it is one of the few shows to exist without a pattern narrative, Marling and Batmanglij have met their ambitious grasp with the final product in the overall superior second season.

As OA (Marling) is rushed to the hospital after being shot during a visceral, topical school shooting scene, she proclaims to the kids that they succeeded. After the screen cuts to black, we see a bright hospital room, before cutting to black, again, as OAs disembodied voice mumbles, “Homer?”

“The OA” hasn’t lost any creative steam during the over two-year hiatus between seasons.

“The OA” is a series that is hard to describe to people who haven’t seen it. If you say what the show is literally about, it seems almost mundane. On the most basic level, the series follows a young blind woman named Prairie that disappears. After being gone for seven years, Prairie suddenly reappears and can now see. But honestly, that’s just the most basic description of the show. There are tons of sci-fi elements, a big spiritual mystery, there’s a supporting cast of misfits, and yes, interpretive dance.
