Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino dropped by Bill Maher’s Club Random podcast this week to discuss, well, pretty random stuff. While he spoke about his love for the “Toy Story” movies, at least the first three, he also talked a little about the canceled “The Movie Critic” film that was supposed to be his swan song. While Tarantino didn’t get into any details of why he canceled it, not that Maher asked him, he did use it to debunk rumors and talk about all the misinformation that spreads about his movies because he’s not on social media to discredit them.

Late last week, filmmaker Quentin Tarantino shocked the film industry. All set to start shooting his tenth and would-be final film, “The Movie Critic,” or at least a handful of scenes to be eligible for a tax credit and then resume in 2025, the filmmaker pivoted, changed course, and then canceled the film.

While some details leaked in the aftermath, the film apparently morphed into a “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” spin-off featuring Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth stuntman character, thanks to Tarantino’s endless rewriting, a new in-depth piece on the cancelation of the film by the Hollywood Reporter is separating some of the facts from the fictions.

Well, this is an interesting about-face, and so much for the rumors about the recent start dates. Filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has decided to scrap “The Movie Critic” as his final film. He’s changed his mind; he won’t make it, and what he will substitute for his supposed tenth and final film is unclear.

According to Deadline, the rumors are true that Brad Pitt was going to star, and apparently, many of the previous members of Tarantino’s repertory company were eyeing roles, but it’s all moot now, and the film has been scrapped.

Well, here’s some exciting casting. Brad Pitt is teaming up with Quentin Tarantino for Tarantino’s tenth and final movie—so he claims anyhow—“The Movie Critic.” It’s unclear if Pitt has the title lead role, but Deadline, who breaks the news, says he probably does, and this makes sense. While Tarantino was initially looking for a white male in his 30s, aging up the character a little bit won’t hurt, and Pitt obviously can still pass for his 40s.
