In surprising remake news, Walter Parkes, producer on this summer’s “Dinner For Schmucks” as well as the upcoming “Men In Black III,” is putting together a team to remake the 1948 film “The Fallen Idol.” The original film is notable as it was the first collaboration between director Carol Reed (“The Agony and the Ecstasy,” “The Running Man”) and writer Graham Greene, who followed it up with their noir great “The Third Man” a year later.

Once upon a time, someone thought a Kurt Cobain biopic about the deceased grunge star would be a good idea.

– In October 2007, script writer, David Benioff (“The 25 Hour,” “Troy,”) is hired to write the screenplay by Universal based on Charles Cross’ book, “Heavier Than Heaven. A girl named Courtney Love is executive producing.
– Days later it is rumored that James McAvoy (“Atonement,” “Wanted”) will play Kurt.
– At the end of October 2007, the documentary, “Kurt Cobain: About A Son,” is released.

As promised, here’s some reviews of the films we saw over the holidays. Dont’ get too excited. None of them were that great. Some of them were terrible in places or just overall.

“Atonement” The short answer review for Atonement is this: Stupid, nosy and privileged brat ruins every ones lives. The end. The longer version is, god this film was laborious and overdone and we’re sure the book it was based on was the same thing.
