Written and directed by Clea DuVall, who also stars alongside a great ensemble including Melanie Lynskey, Natasha Lyonne, Vincent Piazza, Jason Ritter, Ben Schwartz, Alia Shawkat and Cobie Smulders, the dramedy centers on four couples plan to reunite for a “marriage intervention” disguised as a fun-filled weekend at a lakeside vacation home.

“The Intervention” looks on its surface like a comprehensive Sundance bingo movie. A set of four couples, tied together by family, blood, and friendship, gather at a house in Georgia where three couples plan to ambush the fourth with advice (presumably unwelcome) for divorce. The cast is attractive and youngish, peppered with known names and comedy stars, while the soundtrack features indie pop and new music from Sara Quin, of Tegan and Sara.

Nothing can come between friends faster than “the truth,” and that’s the foundation of the upcoming indie ensemble dramedy “The Intervention,” which premiered this winter at the Sundance Film Festival, where the always great Melanie Lynskey won a Special Jury Prize for her performance. And now it’s headed to a theater near you.
