Wait, why is Sir Ben Kingsley singing a song by Washington, D.C hardcore band Minor Threat? Is he trying to outdo Shane West and the Germs? Is this his audition to play Ian MacKaye? Who knows what the hell it is, but it is an interesting curiosity that’s for sure. Kingsley better be careful though, if the Queen see’s this she’s going to think he has something to do with the Sex Pistols and rob him of his title.

Shane West Will Probably Not Cut His Chest Open When Singing For The Reunited Germs (We Hope)

Shane West the actor that plays Darby Crash in the upcoming Germs biopic, “What We Do Is Secret,” has performed the part of the deceased L.A. punk icon so convincingly, that the surviving members of the Germs – including ex-Nirvana guitarist Pat Smear – have decided to go on tour with the kid for their upcoming reunion tour.

That’s kind of really nuts, but it kind of makes sense given how insanely dedicated West was to playing Crash and how far he went to be authentic, including undergoing several dental operations to unfix his teeth so they’d be as fucked up and gnarly as Crash’s were.

Lavender Diamond’s Becky Stark Sings To Bill Murray In ‘City Of Ember’; Germs Film Expands Its Run

As we reported last November Lavender Diamond’s Becky Stark will appear in the subterranean film, “City Of Ember” this fall alongside folks like Bill Murray and Tim Robbins (the L.A. hippie fruitcake singer is also writing songs for the film). But she also has yet another film project onhand that includes her entire band. The group have expanded on their winning 2007 album Imagine Our Love (one of our faves of the year) into a full-blown movie thanks to the help of director Maximilla Lukacs and artist Alia Penner (Stark is also starring in a short with Sonic Youth doyenne Kim Gordon, directed by Alia Raza that is based on a Miranda July short story).

Germs Biopic ‘What We Do Is Secret’ Hitting U.S. Theaters In August

The long-completed Germs biopic, “What We Do Is Secret” will finally hit U.S. theaters in August via Peach Arch Entertainment – the same company putting out “The Go-Getter” – according to Billboard.

Initial screenings will be held New York (Aug. 8), Chicago (Aug. 15) and Los Angeles (Aug. 23) and the picture may roll out into other major markets depending on how it performs (which seems to be the cautious approach that the new fledgling Peach Arch seems to have for all their releases, again, see ‘Go-Getter’).

While You Were Sleeping, Shane West Somehow Got Cast As Darby Crash

OK, we all heard the rumor that Shane West (the not-so-bad-boy from ” A Walk To Remember” with Mandy Moore) would play seminal L.A. punk figure Darby Crash, short-lived singer of the Germs, but we never really thought such a thing would come to pass.

Not only was West cast, but the movie, “What We Do Is Secret,” has been shot and is in the can and premiered at the Los Angeles Film Festival over the weekend.
