Yesterday, news flew around the web that David Webb Peoples was writing the last draft of Ridley Scott’s forever gestating “The Forever War” but it turns out that was a bit of old news.

Deadline reports that another three word name is currently working on the script: Matthew Michael Carnahan. Apparently, Peoples did work on the script but that was a while ago and Carnahan is currently taking a stab at yet another draft.

Remember “The Forever War”? The Ridley Scott film, based on the 1974 sci-fi novel by Joe Haldeman, was first announced way back in 2008, was one he wanted to do right after “Blade Runner” but it got away from him. Well, it’s still knocking around, and earlier this year while doing press rounds for “Robin Hood,” Scott revealed that a fourth draft of the screenplay currently being penned to try and get the complex story right.

Ridley Scott likes to talk, and when he appeared at the Hero Complex Film Festival over the weekend he didn’t hold back. Presenting a double feature of “Alien” and “Blade Runner” the director naturally talked about his gestating “Alien” prequels as well as a small handful of other projects on his every growing plate.

Even though the internet seems to have forgotten he already mentioned this way back in April, Scott confirmed (again) that the prequel will center on the “space jockey” from the original film, the lond dead being found by crew in “Alien.” “No one ever asked that question: What’s the story there?

Fox Exec Hints At Ridley Scott’s Involvement In ‘Alien’ Prequel?

Just after news of the recent “reboot” of the “Predator” series at the hands of Robert Rodriguez, Fox may be toying with the idea of bringing back another big sci-fi franchise long past its prime and sullied by silly Vs films in “Aliens.”

While speaking with IESB.com, Fox co-chairman, Tom Rothman, commented that they may be attempting to bait original “Alien” director Ridley Scott back into the director’s chair for another ‘Aliens’ installment.

Ridley Scott To Direct (First Ever?) Homosexual Sci-Fi Film, ‘Forever War’

Ridley Scott is currently in line to direct the adaptation to the futuristic war novel “The Forever War.” Fox 2000 has just acquired the rights to Joe Haldeman’s 1974 novel. The science fiction and futuristic setting would be familiar ground for Scott, due to his success with “Blade Runner” and “Alien.”

Scott’s most recent movie, “Body of Lies,” the Leonardo Dicaprio and Russell Crowe terrorism thriller bombed at the box office last weekend and his next project “Nottingham,” sounds like it could go either way.
