reports.

Deadline
describes Damon’s part (and the movie in general) thusly: “Damon is attached to
play Denny Malone, a NYPD detective who runs an elite crime fighting squad, but
bends the law so often that he loses the line between good and evil and becomes
ensnared in a pending corruption scandal.

Will audiences ever get to see “The New Mutants?”

Obviously, Fox has committed a large amount of money and time to the project, and it would take something catastrophic for the studio to completely erase the film from its release schedule. However, at the rate its going now, it doesn’t feel like we’ll ever see the film’s release. Especially considering Fox just announced that “The New Mutants,” superhero film “X-Men: Dark Phoenix,” and several other films are seeing their release dates shuffle, yet again.

After sharing an Oscar nomination for “Logan,” James Mangold and Scott Frank are reuniting to work on the film adaptation of Don Winslow‘s crime novel, “The Force.” Frank and Mangold earned Best Adapted Screenplay nominations for their unique story about former X-Man, Wolverine. Now the writing pair is revisiting the noir aspects of their aforementioned film with a new adaptation, with Mangold also serving as director.

Fresh off of his recent success with “Logan,” director James Mangold lined up an adaptation of Don Winslow’s (“Savages”) NYPD corruption novel “The Force.” Now, Deadline reports, Pulitzer Prize winning playwright David Mamet is in talks to write the adaptation.

The novel, which was just released yesterday, explores a corrupt cop in an elite unit who is being investigated by the feds.
