It was only a matter of time, but in November, Amazon Studios is finally joining the various other studios as part of the coveted Criterion Collection. That month, Paweł Pawlikowski’s Oscar-nominated love story, “Cold War,” will find its way into the collection, with a brand-new release, packed with special features and a luscious new 4K transfer. Needless to say, if Amazon Studios was going to eventually join Criterion anyway, might as well be for a film that is as incredible as “Cold War.”

As mentioned, the new “Cold War” release in November includes the new 4K transfer, that was overseen by Pawlikowski and his cinematographer Łukasz Zal.

Well, two years after “The Daytrippers,” the writer/director had a new project ready called, “Life Of The Party.” In 1998, Variety even announced the project, describing it as a ensemble comedy “about a group of friends who travel to the South of France to rejoin an old pal of theirs who is in need of their company.”

It almost sounds like the “what if” scenario of his newest film, “Adventureland,” (screening at Sundance this week) as the protagonist’s plan in the story is to initially travel to Europe with friends, but is stymied by economic issues.
