With a couple of months to go until its release, and the excitement hitting fever pitch after the excellent international trailer hit last week, it seems like a good time for Universal to reveal the soundtrack for “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.” We’ve revealed bits and pieces of the bands likely to be featured in the film; Beck, Metric and Broken Social Scene are all set to provide music for some of the bands featured within the plot, and frequent Radiohead collaborator Nigel Godrich has composed the score.

So Canadian synth-rockers Metric’s music will stand in for… The Clash At Demonhead in Edgar Wright’s “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World” live-action, graphic novel adaptation as we’ve guessed all along?

Well, according to our buddies in the L.A. Times who spoke to Metric, their music — an unreleased track called “Black Sheep” — will stand in for some band in ‘Scott Pilgrim’ they just don’t say who.

…the picture stars Michael Cera as a budding rock ‘n’ roll bassist, and [the] unreleased Metric song “Black Sheep” will represent one of the bands in the film.

There’s been a paucity of real photo goodies of late, but Edgar Wright has revealed the fake “evil” band within “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World,” via his blog and fake-meta promotion hung up in Toronto’s SonicBoom record store (where scenes were shot? Toronto is definitely where the film is shooting).

The fictional band, Montreal art-rockers The Clash At Demonhead, are a group fronted by Brie Larson‘s character Envy Adams, who is one of Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera’s) ex-girlfriends (the one, the one who broke his heart).

Why we said this aloud to friends and not in print is beyond us, but when it was was announced that Radiohead/Beck producer Nigel Godrich had picked Metric to appear on the “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World” soundtrack, we figured and wrote that he was probably curating the soundtrack picks (which isn’t confirmed, but strongly implied).

However, we did say to friends over dinner recently more specifically: “oh, maybe he’s also recording all the bands who will make the music for Sex Bob-Omb and The Clash At Demonhead (the rival bands in the film, Micheal Cera’s Pilgrim band being the former).
