The spark behind this series comes from co-writers and producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, who apply the same irreverence of “Sausage Party” or Amazon’s adaptation of superhero satire “The Boys” to the story of four pizza-loving turtles that have been brought to stiff live-action existence (2014’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” produced by Michael Bay) or in drab animation (2007’s “TMNT”).

The film is very clearly borrowing a bit of the style of “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” and is using it to reinvent ‘TMNT’ for a new audience.

All of this combines to prove that Rogen is perhaps the perfect person to revive the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” franchise, as seen in the new film, ‘Mutant Mayhem.’
