It it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. That seems to be the approach by Oliver Stone when it comes to the soundtrack to his forthcoming sequel, “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.”

The original film featured a couple of tracks from David Byrne and Brian Eno’s excellent album “My Life In The Bush Of Ghosts” as well the Talking Heads classic “This Must Be the Place (Naïve Melody)” and for the sequel, Stone has pretty much gone wall-to-wall Byrne/Eno.

Update: Production Weekly quotes somebody (his agent? publicist?) saying “Robert De Niro won’t be in the film. It would be great, but there is no negotiation about it.” So, there you go.

The 1989 Neil Jordan comedy “We’re No Angels” is notable for one thing, and one thing only: teaming two of the most acclaimed actors of their respective generations, Robert De Niro and Sean Penn, for the first time. Unfortunately the results were fairly disastrous; indeed Penn hasn’t worked in comedy since, although he’s meant to be one of “The Three Stooges” for the Farrelly Brothers at some point.

David Byrne and Brian Eno self-released “Everything That Happens Will Happen Today” to critical acclaim in 2008, and it was supported by the “Songs Of David Byrne & Brian Eno” tour that saw Byrne (sans Eno) playing songs from the album, as well as other material they had worked on together, drawing from both his solo albums and his LPs with The Talking Heads.

By all accounts, the concerts were a grand affair with an elaborate stage show featuring dancers and Byrne pulling out all the hits from his extensive back catalog.

We’re the first to admit that we’re definitely anticipating “Hot Tub Time Machine” more than we thought we’d ever be. On paper, it sounds like the dumbest movie ever, okay, even in execution it’s probably the dumbest movie ever, but goddamn if we haven’t been chuckling to the trailers and clips that have hit the web in the lead up to the film’s March 26th release date.

As you probably know by now, the film follows four dudes (John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson & Clark Duke) who are zapped back to the ’80s thanks to a wacky hot tub.

Earlier this week the trades reported that the Fox Searchlight documentary, “Young@Heart” was being remade into a narrative feature.

The doc was a touching look at a group of senior citizens who formed a choir and sang versions of contemporary songs by groups like Coldplay, The Clash, The Talking Heads and James Brown, under the guidance of a young music director — sort of like reverse “School Of Rock” meets “Cocoon” or something equally heartwarming and uplifting (or schmaltzy, depending).

-We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: we’re profoundly indifferent to James Cameron’s forthcoming “Avatar.” The trailers, plot and weird blue aliens haven’t done it for us and with today’s announcement that reality show winner, Leona Lewis, is going to be singing the title track “I See You (Theme From Avatar)” we’re pretty much ready to give up on this film altogether. Let’s see you defend this choice fanboys. We’re guessing Celine Dion was busy, but like “My Heart Will Go On,” James Horner (who is also scoring the film) is going to be responsible for raping our ears again this time around with what is sure to be another combination of soggy, drippy orchestration, overwrought singing and awful lyrics.

According to the always unreliable Amazon, the “W” soundtrack comes out today (October 14; yup, it was up on Itunes on September 30, Lion’sgate Records, we need to talk). We see the film tomorrow (finally!) and we hear great things about Paul Cantelon’s score. Much like “Religuolous” use of classic-song irony, the movie and soundtrack mocks our current President with Willie Nelson’s apropos, “Mammas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys,” Gene Autry’s “Deep In the Heart of Texas” (remember it from “Pee Wee’s Big Adventure”??) and this one is too rich and the best: Bob Dylan’s “With God On Our Side.” Too funny.

Is a Broadway musical adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ “American Psycho” novel going to be the best fucking thing ever?

Hell fucking yes, but can we somehow convince the producers of this thing to cast Christian Bale for at least the first week run?

The film adaption of the ’80s materialist serial killer, directed by Mary Harron isn’t perfect by any means and looks cheap as all get out (production values, people, please!), but Bale’s majestically absurd turn as the batshit loony Patrick Bateman is still utterly fantastic.

Ok, this TV trailer for Oliver Stone’s “W” is distinctly different from the film trailer we’ve seen and really pumps up the comedy/absurdity angle. Set to the Talking Heads’s “Once In A Lifetime,” we see Josh Brolin as George W. Bush telling his mother Barbara (Ellen Burstyn) that he’s been touched by the hand of God and should run for President (much to her shock and awe) and showcases some of the friction displayed in the script between the President and VP Dick Cheney (Richard Dreyfuss), who seems to have utter contempt for his privilege and idiocy (Bush calls Guantanamo Bay, “Guantaramera,” after the famous Cuban song and Cheney corrects him with utter disdain).

We were asking just a month ago, ‘what the fuck happened to Todd Solondz?’ The provocative miserablist hadn’t directed a film since 2004’s straight to art-house-cinemas-only creep-fest, “Palindromes,” and that flick did so poorly, we wondered aloud if he’d ever make a movie again.

Well, apparently he is. For years now he’s had a “sexual obsessions dark comedy” incubating that he called, “Life During Wartime,” which was supposed to be a quasi-sequel/ companion piece to his creepy and critically acclaimed, 1998 pedophilia-sympathizing film “Happiness,” and this can’t be any other film than the same project, only now it actually has financiers (a new indie – gulp – company called Werc Werk Works).
