STXFilms will produce and distribute a new version of the French film “My Son,” with the original film’s director, Christian Carion returning to direct.

Critical acclaim often fades into the background, as commercial success pushes production companies forward in making these new films. Films that get panned by critics end up having two, three, or four sequels, while individual critical darlings are one-and-done. In this case, “The Boy,” which came out in 2016 and panned universally by critics, looks to be given a second chance in the form of “Brahms: The Boy II.”

However, less than two months before the film’s release, it appears that distributor STX has delayed “21 Bridges.”

According to Deadline, STX and AGBO have decided to move “21 Bridges” from September 27 to November 22.

But the real question is “why?”

Perhaps it wasn’t a good idea, to begin with, to have two Bautista films arrive in theaters only a month apart, but STX didn’t think about that sooner.
