A two-time Oscar-nominated actor known for his serious chops, Jude Law, has been spreading his wings a little bit and trying out the world of franchises in recent years. His first foray into that blockbuster domain was “Sherlock Holmes” with Robert Downey Jr. In recent years, he did a stint in Marvel’s “Captain Marvel” alongside Brie Larson, and next month in December, he joins the “Star Wars” universe in Lucasfilm’s upcoming series, “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew.”

We recently caught up with Law to discuss his upcoming FBI/white supremacy drama, “The Order,” directed by Justin Kurzel (“Macbeth”) and co-starring Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Jurnee Smollett, and many more.

No new shows will appear on the horizon until at least 2026, and the company seems to be pivoting “Star Wars” back to the big screen with three new movies in the works.

While a lot of the “Star Wars” television projects have been entry points to bring back established characters from canon to the small-screen or live-action, it’s also been exciting to see Lucasfilm developing a handful of possible original projects with “The Acolyte” and “Star Wars: Skeleton Crew” giving room for creatives to develop their own corners of the universe. “Skeleton Crew” had been pitched to Lucasfilm as a take on the beloved Richard Donner-directed 80s adventure film “The Goonies,” but set within the “Star Wars” franchise giving the impression we’ll be seeing the show focus on space pirates that recently got highlighted on this season of “The Mandalorian.”

But apparently, there was some confusion about the announcement that led to Daniels receiving some backlash.

With Star Wars Celebration underway, Lucasfilm has announced a new “Star Wars” project is coming to Disney+ and will indeed come from the director of the most recent “Spider-Man” trilogy, the last installment of which earned a whopping $1.8 billion at the global box office.

It was announced during the Lucasfilm panel that British actor Jude Law (“Captain Marvel“) will lead a brand new original series set in the “Star Wars” universe from producers Jon Watts, Christopher Ford, Jon Favreau, and Dave Filoni.
