The latest attempt by a studio to rejuvenate a series with big merchandising potential, “Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins,” is not a particularly good version of the prevailing popcorn blockbuster. The film is undeniably a triage mission to save a dying piece of intellectual property eight years after the disappointment of “G.I. Joe: Retaliation.” It’s far too fixated on providing life support to the brand for it to give newly recast Henry Golding the star platform he needs or the martial arts action artistry the film deserves.

And now, it appears that we know who will be stepping into the all-white ninja costume and fighting the titular character in the upcoming ‘GI Joe’ spin-off film, “Snake Eyes.”

According to The Wrap, actor Andrew Koji has been cast as the villainous Storm Shadow in “Snake Eyes.” Fans of the classic ‘GI Joe’ comic books and cartoon series will immediately recognize Storm Shadow as the evil ninja assassin working for Cobra that often found himself at odds with the heroic, and silent, Snake Eyes.

Paramount isn’t done with the “G.I. Joe” franchise just yet.

While it’s not necessarily news that the studio is interested in reviving the franchise, based on the highly popular toys and cartoons from the ‘80s, The Hollywood Reporter says that Paramount isn’t interested in a team film anymore. Instead, the studio wants to focus on one ‘Joe’ in particular – Snake Eyes.

THR is reporting that Paramount is looking at Evan Spiliotopoulos to pen a “Snake Eyes” script based on the silent ninja hero.
