While it may not have won over critics, Kat Dennings‘ lastest starring role in Hulu‘s “Dollface” certainly connected with audiences. Who may that be, outside fans of Dennings’ now-defunct “Two Broke Girls” sitcom? Most likely, the show’s target audience of young female twenty-somethings.

“Dollface” begins with a breakup, when Jeremy (Connor Hines) tells Jules (Kat Dennings), his girlfriend of five years, that he doesn’t love her anymore. Jules is summarily scooped up by a millennial-pink bus driven by an old cat lady (literally, an older woman with a CGI cat face played by Beth Grant). The bus arrives to take her back – “back to hanging out with other women.” What follows is a bumpy, shallow, highly enjoyable return to sisterhood.

Working at a morgue is already creepy enough. Surrounded by nothing but dead bodies, the location is ripe for your imagination to run wild and scare the crap out of you. So, what happens when you’re starting a new job in the morgue and you think that one of those cadavers is possessed and trying to come after you? Yeah, that’s never good.

In the first trailer for “The Possession of Hannah Grace,” you meet a young woman named Megan (Shay Mitchell) who is lucky to work the graveyard shift at the morgue.

For a passive-aggressive Mother’s Day gift, I recommend taking your mom to the film of the same name. If you haven’t quite found the present that says, “Mom, I hate you for bringing me into the world,” this is the (movie) ticket. Somehow inferior to both its celebratory predecessors “New Year’s Eve” and “Valentine’s Day,” Garry Marshall’s “Mother’s Day” is the cinematic equivalent of spilling boiling hot coffee on your mother when you bring her burnt toast for breakfast in bed.
