Well, Paramount+ is hoping you haven’t forgotten the film, as the network has found the cast that will lead the prequel series that the streamer is working on now.

According to Variety, James McArdle and Emun Elliott have been cast in the lead roles of the “Sexy Beast” prequel series coming to Paramount+.

It’s almost two years that we’ve been talking about the forthcoming “Sexy Beast” TV series. And over that time, all signs have pointed to the series actually getting made, with Paramount Network ordering an entire first season. In fact, it was reported that Karyn Kusama, of “The Invitation” fame, was set to direct episodes of the series. Alas, it appears that this was all truly too good to be true, as the “Sexy Beast” series is now without a deal and a platform.

The series will follow the origin story of a thief named Gal Dove, played by Ray Winstone in the film, according to Variety.

If you go and see “Baby Driver” this weekend expecting another gag-heavy comedy in the vein of Edgar Wright’s earlier films, you’ll likely be in a shock. The absolutely tremendous car-chase-musical (read our review) is funny, sure, but that’s not its primary aim: in a big departure from Wright, it has more in common with classic 70s crime cinema than with, “Hot Fuzz” (for example) using the director’s formal gifts in service of a surprisingly hard-boiled heist movie.
