When Sam Raimi signed on to direct “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” it was a surprise because prior to that, the filmmaker hadn’t directed a film in nearly a decade, since 2013. Now, after ‘Multiverse of Madness,’ it appears the filmmaker is not ready to rest on his laurels again, and he’s found one of his ‘Doctor Strange’ stars to join him.

According to Deadline, Rachel McAdams is in talks to star in Sam Raimi’s new film, “Send Help.” Exact plot details are unknown at this time, but the report claims the film is a bit of a mixture between “Misery” and “Castaway.” The film is written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift.

Deadline reports that the legendary genre filmmaker will helm the horror thriller “Send Help” over at 20th Century Studios. It’s Raimi’s first genre film since 2009’s “Drag Me To Hell,” a fan-favorite (and arguably the last true “Raimi” film he’s made).

Sam Raimi has handpicked another heir apparent to the “Evil Dead” franchise. Deadline reports that “The Last Stop In Yuma County” director Francis Galluppi follows in the footsteps of Fede Álvarez and Lee Cronin as the next up-and-comer to take the reins on the long-running horror series. And from the sounds of things, it’s another fresh start for the Deadites: an original story developed by Galluppi with no connection to last year’s “Evil Dead Rise.”

And though it was once thought of as a kind of one-off, with Marvel reportedly doing a similar kind of thing for “Deadpool & Wolverine”—turning the film into a nostalgic throwback and goodbye for 20th Century Fox’s version of Marvel’s universe—the possibility of any of these Spider-Men coming back for more feels like a real chance.

Lee Cronin’s “Evil Dead Rise” calls to mind those items we used to read before every “Die Hard” sequel, about how each had begun its life as a completely different story having nothing to do with “Die Hard” that was hastily re-written into another John McClane movie. That is not, as far as I know, the origin story of this “Evil Dead” sequel. But I wouldn’t be surprised to find it began its life as an entirely unrelated tale of a dysfunctional family fighting an evil force in a condemned apartment building before writers threw in a Book of the Dead and a chainsaw to help fill the opening weekend tills and keep the “Evil Dead” IP alive.

Marvel Studios was able to convince the filmmaker to come back to tackle “Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness” after Scott Derrickson exited the sequel over “creative differences.”

Some fans became concerned the exit of Derrickson telegraphed that the studio might be backtracking on the horror elements that had been promised at San Diego Comic-Con 2019.
