Marc Webb Finds ‘Just Another Love Story’; Sony Pictures Classics Buys ‘The Last Station’

– After botching the remake of his own film “Nightwatch,” Danish director Ole Bornedal is letting “(500) Days of Summer” helmer Marc Webb take the reins for the Hollywood reboot of his 2008 film “Just Another Love Story.” The thriller, which premiered at Sundance last year, is a bit like a darker retread of “While You Were Sleeping,” about a photographer who convinces an amnesiac woman that he is her boyfriend. Webb is also attached to a new version of Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s “Jesus Christ Superstar,” and the sci-fi movie “Age of Rage,” described as “Children of Men” meets “Lord of the Flies.” Webb’s one of the good guys (as he demonstrated to us here), and it’s good to see him busy.

Rachel Weisz and Karyn Kusama To Team; First Concept Art From Duncan Jones’ ‘Mute’

– If “Jennifer’s Body” doesn’t land her in director’s jail (although “Aeon Flux” put her there before, so that may not stop her…), Karyn Kusama plans on teaming with Rachel Weisz for an as yet untitled ‘psychological horror’ film, which Kusama compares to the work of David Cronenberg. Kusama says, “It definitely does fall into sort of a body horror movie that deals very, very specifically with our concept of gender.” It’s an interesting idea, we love Weisz, and maybe returning to her own scripts will see Kusama regain her voice, which seems to have gotten a bit lost since “Girlfight”.

David Fincher To Direct Trangressive Graphic Novel, ‘Black Hole’

Slightly old (from late last week), but we wanted to have it mentioned somewhere. David Fincher is making a film and it’s not about a serial killer or the tedious paperwork and time-sheets involved in catching one or invoicing for hours spent chasing one. The fastidious director’s next project will be not be a “Fight Club,” musical, but an adaptation of the transgressive Charles Burns graphic novel, “Black Hole.”

The depraved tale chronicles 1970’s teens who contract a sexually transmitted disease that produces horrifying physical mutations.

The Playlist was out sick today (waaaaah!), here’s a smattering of semi-interesting things that happened in the last 24-48 hours.

– Martin Scorsese’s Rolling Stones live concert documentary, “Shine A Light,” will open the 2008 Berlin Film Festival on February 7. Marty and the crusty, decrepit Stones will be on hand. The film features guest performances from Jack White of the White Stripes, Christina Aguilera and Buddy Guy. [Variety]
– Remember the story about the Juice Crew film that was cast, locked and loaded and apparently ready to go?
