Just a couple of months ago, “Veronica Mars” creator Rob Thomas said the prospect of a feature film version of the cult TV show was “not dead” saying, “I did have a treatment and a pitch, with which I went to Warner Bros. and [Mars producer] Joel Silver and said, ‘Here is the fastball version of the movie, the big studio version of the movie that I think we can make.’ And I think they did one of their brand-awareness surveys and were like, ‘We don’t know if we can make money with that.’ So it’s been back-burnered.

“Veronica Mars” creator Rob Thomas has revealed that the film adaptation of his critically acclaimed teen-noir-detective series is not quite dead despite previously being passed on.

“It’s not dead,” insists Thomas. “I continue to want to do it. It’s funny, because the rumors go around and around. Kristen Bell had said to somebody that I had written a script, and that wasn’t correct. I did have a treatment and a pitch, with which I went to Warner Bros.

Don’t worry – we’re one of those twelve people.

According to an interview with the New York Post website’s Pop Wrap column, “Veronica Mars” creator Rob Thomas (no, he has nothing to do with Matchbox 20), has more or less said that the teenage sleuth (played by “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” cutie Kristen Bell) has been put to rest permanently.

For those of us where fans of the whip smart, super suspenseful show, this is a crushing blow.

He confirmed that both Kristen Bell who played Veronica, and producer Joel Silver are on board. Bell has told many a press outlet that she, unlike Michael Cera, is totally down with revisiting a past role on a revered TV show.
