Adam Sandler Has A Funny Voice In New Trailer For Netflix’s ‘Sandy Wexler’

The most remarkable thing you can probably say about Adam Sandler‘s “Sandy Wexler,” his third film for Netflix, is that it’s not an excuse to take a vacation to an exotic location. In fact, it looks like it was made on the cheap on studio backlots, so perhaps the streaming service is teaching the comedian to tighten his belt a bit. But at any rate, the results look just as dispiriting as you’d expect.

Review: ‘Grown Ups’ Is Adam Sandler’s Mentally-Challenged Version Of ‘The Big Chill’

We’d like to be eloquent and dance around this, but an intervention has to happen. This Adam Sandler thing was cute when it started, then became mildly tolerable, devolving into a disaster in front of our very eyes, one that a collection of glazed-over eyeballs nationwide have sworn by. Fame seems to strike all popular comedians to the point where their intentions sometimes go beyond “having a laugh” into trying to send “important messages” to their audience and/or ego trip paychecks for transparently subpar work, and it’s now hit the beloved village idiot responsible for jackass touchstones like “Happy Gilmore.”

But make no mistake about it, while some comedic legends were forced into these positions, Sandler is nothing if not self-made.

Oren Peli’s $15,000 movie that could is now the top grossing, R-rated thriller of all time but don’t think that studios are banging down his door just yet. The director is currently filming “Area 51,” an alien thriller, and the rights are currently for sale at the American Film Market.

Sandler: Jamesy! ‘Blart’ You’re huge!
James: Sandman! Man, see those numbers? I had no clue people would connect with that crap. We wrote that thing in two weeks and I friggin’ just goofed off and phone it in!

Trade news is as light as a feather today, cause these publications are highly aware that you’re probably hung over, happy and reading the New York Times instead of movie news. So yeah, most of the news from Variety and The Hollywood Reporter are more inconsequential than usual, almost laughably so. It’s like half these stories were written weeks ago, filed to an editor and that person thought, “Ugh, look at this ham, we’ll save it for the slow, post-Election day.” Without further ado, things you don’t give a rat’s ass about.
