For years, we’ve heard that the rom-com is dead, and no one is paying to see those movies—generally mid-sized budget films—in theaters. And that could be true, but the success metrics on streaming sites are obviously different, and the romantic comedy has been thriving on streaming, arguably very specifically on Netflix, which has given a home to this genre in recent years. The latest is “Love At First Sight,” starring the always effervescently delightful Haley Lu Richardson.

The sixth season of “Black Mirror,” Charlie Brooker’s award-winning anthology series that Netflix turned into an original in 2016, might be the most inconsistent in the show’s history. At first, it’s tempting to dismiss it entirely as a production that’s past its sell-by date, especially given how much the world has changed in the four years since the last installment. Those feelings surface most of all when the season feels like something put together after Brooker put some hot-button topics on a whiteboard and worked back from there.

We casually throw the word “icon” around with such abandon these days that it almost feels like we need a new, more potent idiom to describe those who actually fit the bill. But until we get that term, let’s say that Sigourney Weaver is an absolute icon and leave it at that — a brilliant actor equally adept at drama, action, and comedy, a three-time Academy Award nominee (two of them in the same year), the kind of screen presence who lifts just about anything she’s in.

There is no shortage of shows about the hilarity and discord that stems from marriage. With relationship dramas monopolizing television, it’s difficult for a show to make its mark with the same infectious immediacy of Amazon’s BBC transplant “Catastrophe.” Created by Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney (who both also star as the focal couple), “Catastrophe” premiered with an abrasive charge at the start, forcing the will-they-won’t-they component to last little more than a scene before propelling us forward into the story, way beyond what other shows may take years to accomplish.
