Cinematographer Robert Yeoman wasn’t kidding when he said Wes Anderson was heading to England to shoot yet another film—his second production shot within the span of six months— because tonight, we have details on that film. According to Baz Bamigboye, one of the few certifiably reliable (and airtight) reporters at the otherwise often-dubious UK Daily Mail, who has been spot-on for a decade-plus, Wes Anderson’s next film is a Roald Dahl adaptation for Netflix starring Benedict Cumberbatch.

After Universal became the first studio to drop one of their 2020 releases on VOD first with “Trolls World Tour,” and after Disney did the same with “Mulan” and “Artemis Fowl” it is now Warner Bros.‘s turn to drop one of their fall releases straight to a streaming service. Sure, they dropped “Scoob!” on VOD earlier this year, but that wasn’t exactly a hot title.

Netflix To Develop A Slate Of Animated Series Based On Roald Dahl Classics ‘Wonka,’ ‘Matilda,’ & More

Willy Wonka is coming to Netflix. No, not the Gene Wilder film of the same name. Instead, the streaming service has a new agreement with the Roald Dahl Story Company that will allow Netflix to create a new slate of animated films based on the classic children’s stories from the famous author.

“Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” “Matilda,” “The BFG,” and “The Twits” are just several of the projects that Netflix is going to team up with the Roald Dahl Story Company to produce.

R.I.P. Patricia Neal (1926-2010)

Sad news broke this morning with the report of the passing away of Academy Award-winning actress Patricia Neal, who died of lung cancer at home in Martha’s Vineyard in the early hours of this morning.

Neal was born in Kentucky, and grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee, before moving to New York and working in the theater, winning a Tony award at the very first ceremony in 1947. She came to cinematic fame with her role in “The Fountainhead,” alongside Gary Cooper, with whom she had a rather destructive affair at the time.

It’s about damn time! The trailer for Wes Anderson‘s animated adaptation of Roald Dahl‘s children’s book “Fantastic Mr. Fox” has finally been released online.

We’re not exactly sure what to make of it. It looks cute and offers a few light chuckles, but we’re not sure if this trailer was made for the Wes Anderson fans or for the people that plan on seeing “Aliens in the Attic” this Friday.

Could McDonald’s Help Shill Wes Anderson’s ‘Fantastic Mr. Fox’

First order of business, it’s been confirmed that Fox Searchlight, not 20th Century Fox will be handling Wes Anderson’s stop-motion animated adaptation of Roald Dahl’s “Fantastic Mr. Fox.”

Some thought we were being too negative when we said the film was “downgraded,” and as much as we love Searchlight — much more than Fox proper which tends to make broader pictures for more fare weather movie fans — it is a sizeable millions of dollars difference since one aims wide and one aims niche (unless every FS pic is going to be a ‘Slumdog’ which seems unlikely even for their awesome batting average).
