Well, apply that to “Fly Me To The Moon,” the exuberant, tightly-crafted, endlessly charming, and near pitch-perfect space race film. Part comedy, part drama, part romance, and part race-against-the-clock and overcoming obstacles-to-pull-off-an-impossible feat thrill rush, it’s simply terrific, and maybe very unexpectedly so. Yes, this rare breed of movie, a mix of “Apollo 13,” “Mad Men”-era Madison Avenue advertising, and hell, even a little bit of ticking countdown “Oppenheimer” filtered through the champagne sparkle of the most intoxicating rom-com dramedy and you’ve got a shimmering delight that’s immediately engaging and front to back fully dialed in and compelling.

However, in recent years, he’s been doing a lot more indie stuff, flexing his dramatic muscles a bit. However, with “Somewhere in Queens,” we see a new side to Romano, as he makes his directorial debut.

As seen in the trailer for “Somewhere in Queens,” the film follows the story of a married couple trying to help their teen son figure out what to do with his life.

These are the two primary takeaways from “Somewhere in Queens,” which the stand-up comedian, character actor, and sitcom star co-wrote, co-produced, directed, and starred in. That bit of muti-hyphenating isn’t as much of a stretch as the casual observer might think; he co-created and wrote several episodes of his post-“Raymond” series “Men of a Certain Age,” and has been spending some time on Scorsese’s sets, so the filmmaking here is confident and competent, if not particularly inspired.

In Season One of HBO Max’s “Made For Love,” this premise offered a harsh condemnation of men, toxic male culture, and the need for control from the fat-headed Elon Musks of the world.

After discovering that her husband implanted a monitoring device—the Made for Love chip—in her brain, allowing him to track her, watch her and know her “emotional data,” Hazel fled to her desert hometown to take refuge with her outcast father Herbert (Ray Romano) and his synthetic partner, Diane.

After coating the world in screens designed to connect consumers but intended to surveil them, he’s sorta kinda almost perfected his masterpiece, also called Made For Love.

Filmmakers are celebrated for their artistic vision. Projects are praised for their ability to push the boundaries of what we expect from national cinemas. Then, just as quickly as these films burst on the scene, many disappear from the public eye. Some fall through the cracks of distribution. Others are snapped up by discriminating studios but languish in the vault as executives work to puzzle out the perfect date and platform for their release.

But, considering this is a Netflix film, “The Irishman” is getting a short, select theater run for a few weeks before people will stream it at home, at work, in school, or even on the toilet.

Much of Sheeran’s notoriety today comes from a death-bed confession, where he claimed that he had murdered fellow union leader Jimmy Hoffa. The complex story of murder, war, and mystery will be upfront and center in Scorsese’s new feature, and as announced earlier this week, it’ll be making its world premiere at the New York Film Festival in late September.

His sophomore feature, “Paddleton,” which also marks his screenwriting debut, is a much similar, bare-bones production.

Michael (Mark Duplass) sits in a doctor’s examination room, looking drawn, haggard, and worried, and for good reason; he has cancerous lesions on his liver, and while his physician won’t come right out and call it terminal, it’s hard to miss the inference. But his neighbor and best friend Andy (Ray Romano), who’s come along for moral support, tries to get some clarity; he proposes an elaborate code wherein the doctor will correct him if he says anything wrong about his friend’s prognosis.
