However, when we started to learn more about the new film, excitement built with the idea that the franchise was going to embrace its more horrific roots and present a version of the character we have yet to see. And earlier this year, that “Hellboy” was released and we really did get a new version of the franchise that wasn’t seen in the del Toro films — a truly bad “Hellboy.”

Now, courtesy of Yahoo, we have a video that shows Guillermo del Toro explaining the very specific, unique tone he attempted with his two “Hellboy” films.

The stop-motion-animated film “A Town Called Panic” is at once nostalgic and modern, evoking a childlike glee in even the most cynical of viewers. As proof, my press screening at New York City’s Film Forum had a group of normally stoic critics dissolving into giggles. This Belgian import employs vintage toys for its characters who undertake everyday tasks such as Internet shopping and then embark on fantastic voyages that would make both Ray Harryhausen and Gumby jealous.

Looks like the “Pineapple Express” crew had a pretty good time working together and enjoyed the nice surprise of James Franco’s comedic talents.

The “Spider-Man,” ‘Pineapple’ star has joined the cast of David Gordon Green and Danny McBride’s medieval stoner comedy, “Your Highness” according to Harry Knowles over at AICN.

Knowles attended an “Observe & Report” afterparty where Green and McBride were naturally in the house (director Jody Hill is a close friend of that North Carolina based crew) where he spoke with McBride at length about the project.
