Damn, we never thought this thing would ever come out, but lo and behold, Koch Records is releasing a soundtrack to the Mickey Rourke film, “The Wrestler,” on CD February 24 and its out digitally on ITunes right now! It seems whatever legal issues were holding this thing up are no gone. Of course there’s no Clint Mansell score, but beggars can’t be choosers. If you’re curious about all the music that was featured in the film, we unveiled that a few weeks ago.

This scene from Darren Aronofsky’s “The Wrestler” is pretty short, so it’s hard to get a lot of real emotion on it, but the context around it illustrates how this is really indicative of the films tender and comedic tones. Mickey Rourke’s character is really self-aware, charming and self-deprecating in his gentle wooing of Marisa Tomei’s character and that balance is definitely hinted at here. We generally don’t see movies twice anymore cause we generally don’t have time to spare anymore, but we’re going to make the time to see the film once more because we thought it was wonderfully modest, sparse and winning.
