IndieWire is reporting that Malick’s latest film is actually titled “A Hidden Life.” Obviously, we’ll likely hear confirmation of this title change in a couple of weeks, if “A Hidden Life” is announced as part of the upcoming Cannes Film Festival.

And now, thanks to the folks at Deadline, the Cannes picture is becoming a bit more clear.

It’s true!), December has rolled around and the light at the end of the 2018 tunnel is in sight. And around these parts, that means that it’s time to roll out the annual smorgasbord of year-end features, looking at the best, and sometimes worst, of the year in film and TV.

Lord knows we need things to keep us going in the shitshow that has been the second half of the 2010s, and fortunately, cinema has provided.

After a slow start, 2017 turned out to be a pretty great year for movies, and 2018 looks to keep that up in a big way.

Organizers will be unveiling their first wave of films, and as always, there’s plenty of speculation about what might show up. We’re not going to go too crazy into trying to read the tea leaves ourselves since we’re less than 24 hours away from a formal announcement. However, Deadline has run through every possibility under the sun, there is one movie that jumped out at us.

The director’s approach of late has been focused on trying to capture spontaneous, one of a kind of moments, which has meant giving his actors pages on the day of the shoot, and leaving every narrative possibility open to be explored.

In this mood of thankfulness, our thoughts tend to turn to Cannes aka Cinephile Christmas in May, as we start to wonder which of our Most Anticipated 2017 titles might show up on the Croisette. So while it’s still a way off, seeing as anticipation is almost as enjoyable as the festival itself, we’re bringing you this early list of the films we hope most will make it into the selection this year.

He cut a few different versions of his galactic documentary “Voyage Of Time,” he’s got the long brewing “Song To Song” (formerly known as “Weightless“) set to premiere at SXSW and hit cinemas next month, and if that’s not enough, he’s now in post-production on “Radegund.” Even more, the first look has arrived.

And that’s not to mention, he spent the summer and early fall filming his next movie, the WWII drama “Radegund.” However, that film is still quite a way off.
