If you were around in the 1990s or old enough to remember anyhow, the millennial Y2K phenomenon is both a panic and hilarious joke to some. In 1999, as the new year approached, Y2K referred to the potential computer errors related to the formatting and storage of calendar data for dates in and after the year 2000. The paranoid suspected a kind of global collapse and crisis where everything digital stopped working. Of course, nothing happened, and the less unreasonable of us just partied that night like nothing had happened.

In the past decade, Disney has had immense success by turning all its animated classics into action films. The latest iteration of that model continues with “Snow White,” a live-action musical reimagining of the classic 1937 film “Snow White And The Seven Dwarves.” Coming to theaters on March 21, 2025, Disney released a new teaser trailer for the film at D23.

Sony Pictures today officially announced via Twitter that their third “Paddington” film titled “Paddington In Peru” would be officially heading to theaters on January 17, 2025 (though it will open two months earlier in the U.K. on November 8, 2024). However, there is one big update on the casting front to add to that release date announcement as The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Rachel Zegler (“Snow White“) has had to exit the third installment due to the ongoing strike between the actors’ union SAG-AFTRA (Where Zegler is a member) and the studios led group known as the AMPTP.

How badly can a single performance wreck an entire film? This is the unfortunate question prompted by Steven Spielberg’s new film adaptation of “West Side Story,” a dazzling and energetic movie musical that features, at its center, a performance with all the charisma of a bump on a log. The perpetrator is Ansel Elgort, cast in the leading role of Tony, and he’s absolutely dull as toast — his delivery is flat, his tics and affectations are too contemporary, his expressions are wooden, and he suffers from a total lack of credibility.
