The Academy Museum recently revealed its honorees for the next Academy Museum Gala and today, The Academy announced the recipients of honorary Oscars at the 2024 Governors Awards. In so doing, the AMPAS Board of Trustees voted to designate Honorary Academy Awards to Quincy Jones and Juliet Taylor, the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award to Richard Curtis, and the Irving G.

It would probably not be fair to call Jay Sebring “forgotten.” After all, the ‘60s Hollywood stylist was so popular that he served as an inspiration for “Shampoo,” the 1975 satire directed by Hal Ashby and starring Warren Beatty. But in the grander context of the Charles Manson murders – where so many individuals have adopted a larger-than-life persona over the decades – Sebring’s legacy does feel somewhat muted in comparison.

The Recording Academy handed out the winners of the 2019 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night and a number of the early awards went to movie-centric nominees.

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper won Best Song Written For Visual Media for “Shallow” from “A Star is Born.” Ludwig Göransson work for “Black Panther” won Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media and “The Greatest Showman” took best Compilation Soundtrack For Visual Media.

One anecdote you hear time and time again about Quincy Jones is how personable he is. No matter who you are, what you are doing or where you are from, he will engage directly with you. He won’t create a distance or be as polite as the situation dictates.
