Wishful thinking? As you’ll recall, ex-Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker not only wrote some songs for Wes Anderson’s “Fantastic Mr. Fox” (though only one is included in the final film; you can hear it here, he actually co-wrote it with Anderson), he actually voiced the film’s narration too.

But because of his big thick English accent, or at least that’s how Fox perceived it, the narration in the film was cut. “They showed that to test audiences in the U.S.

Damn, Stephen Kijak’s “Scott Walker: 30 Century Man,” is kind of getting the shaft. It originally premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2007 and we loved it. We complain about covering the average music documentary because most of them are rote and paint-by-numbers, but ’30 Century Man’ is a fascinating portrait of one of rock’s most enigmatic musicians who essentially walked away from success at the heights of his powers (the great Scott Walker, if this isn’t completely obvious).

All has been quiet in Wes Anderson world of late. But fret no further. In an interview with Chicago Time Out ex-Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker told the magazine that he’s going to be involved with Anderson’s adaptation of Roald Dahl’s “The Fantastic Mr. Fox” which is due sometime in 2009.

“I’ve written three, four songs, and some of that might become bits of the score,” he said. And that’s all he’s asked and all we have to work with, but it’s an interesting development.
