In between film panels at the New York Comic Con they showcased a couple of highly anticipated sneak peeks. Here’s what we saw.

“The Green Hornet”
As in a few other conventions, “The Green Hornet” had a presence on the floor, with the Black Beauty car on display for a number of fans. What was different was an entirely new action sequence, with 3D glasses handed out to patrons. In the short scene, Jay Chou as Kato dismantles a number of thugs using his martial arts expertise.

Another Trailer for “Priest” is One You’ve Already Seen

Another trailer for the sci-fi/action/thriller/another-vampire-movie-in-3D flick “Priest” has hit the web, and you don’t even have to view it yourself to have already seen it. Although this trailer doesn’t look as unfortunate as Paul Bettany’s other sci-fi thriller “Legion,” the trailer for “Priest” hands you the same conventions as any other action film.

It’s a CGI lover’s wet dream that follows a priest (Bettany) who must rescue his niece after she’s kidnapped by vampires.

Trailer For ‘Priest’ Is A Mash-Up Of Every Post-Apocalyptic/Futuristic/Vampire Movie You Have Ever Seen

The trailer for the continually pushed-back, 3D-converted vampire horror film “Priest” has arrived and it looks like director Scott Charles Scott (“Legion”) has ticked every box on the “Making A Cliché Genre Film” list.

The plot, which basically mirrors “Drive Angry 3D” with vampires instead of the devil, follows a priest (Paul Bettany) who must rescue his niece when she is kidnapped by vampires. Her boyfriend and sheriff (Cam Gigandet) and a priestess (Maggie Q) came long for the ride.

Update: Karl Urban confirmed at ComicCon that he’s been offered the role. “We’ve been having discussions. We’re working on it,” he said.

God, what hath “Se7en” wrought? Even though New Line execs have no idea why the franchise continues to be popular (and really, neither do we), they are readying yet another installment of the horror series for August 2011. The tentative title? “5nal Destination.” That’s scarier than anything the films have conjured up. Anyway, in case you care, the opening death sequence in the new film will involve a suspension bridge which is apt considering the suspension of disbelief this series already requires.

“The Thing” prequel has been given with a pretty decent April 29, 2011 release date, that perhaps signals Universal’s confidence in the film being a decent spring performer. The prequel to John Carpenter’s classic film stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead (who plays Ramona Flowers in “Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World”) and will focus on the team of Norwegian scientists who first discover uh, the thing.

Predictably, at the L.A. junket for the “Wolf Man,” bloggers spent their entire time grilling director Joe Johnston about his upcoming “The First Avenger: Captain America” film (and sometimes asking about some real inane details of total nerd minutia).

The director of timeless cinema classics like “Jumanji’ and “Jurassic Park 3” revealed that he’ll likely cast an unknown American as his lead and surround him with name actors, that the movie will be set in Europe, will be filmed in the U.K., Red Skull will be the villain and the picture will shoot in 2D HD with aesthetics different to any other Marvel film.

– Tim Pocock, who replaced James Marsden as Cyclops in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” and somehow managed to be even blander (don’t get us wrong, we like Marsden a lot, just not in the “X-Men” movies), wrote on his Twitter account a few days back “Currently shooting Australian TV series till February 2010… then X-men first class ;)”. This suggests that he’s been officially asked to reprise his role in the long-in-development script from Josh Schwartz (“The OC”, “Chuck”) following a number of the X-Men characters as teenagers.

Samantha Morton, Dominic West and Polly Walker have all joined Andrew Stanton’s “John Carter Of Mars.” The Disney project will chronicle the story of a Civil War veteran (Taylor Kitsch) who is mysteriously transported to Mars and becomes involved with the hostile environments. Lynn Collins and Willem Dafoe also star. [THR]

Joan Jett and Jackie Fox from the all-girl rock band The Runaways are in the midst of an ugly court battle which sees Jett suing Fox for trying to claim compensation on The Runaways’ name.

The director is currently working on a modern day adaptation of “Hamlet” starring Emile Hirsch. Bryan Singer is rumored to be in the process of bringing “Battlestar Galatica” to the silver screen for Universal. Singer was attached to a reboot early this decade before September 11 stunted his project’s progress. Since then Ron Moore has developed a critically acclaimed television remake. Wonder what the geeks will think of Singer’s possible reboot which will reportedly draw inspiration from the original series. As for us? Please don’t let this be true, and Singer, please move onto something much more original than a TV show remake, thanks.

‘Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince’ Rumored For IMAX Delay, ‘Transformers 2’ To Feature Extended IMAX Cut, Trailer For ‘The Final Destination’

Rumor has it “Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince” will have its IMAX release delayed by two weeks due to an agreement with “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen” for an exclusive 4 week screening window. [Oh No They Didn’t]

The aforementioned IMAX run for Michael Bay’s “Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen” will also feature “slightly longer cut with more robot fighting,” ooooh! You’re psyched. Bay says “four scenes were shot on IMAX cameras so the screen will fill the full IMAX screen for these scenes.” [MichaelBay.com]

Mike Dougherty’s “Trick ‘r Treat” is finally set for a limited theatrical run before its eventual October DVD release.
