Hot off the heels of news that Danny Boyle may have decided upon his next project — a survival tale about a mountain climber who had to amputate his own arm when a boulder crushed it, that may star Ryan Gosling — comes more Boyle-related news.

Ewan McGregor might be decidedly against a sequel to “Trainspotting” — a legitimate one based off of Irvine Welsh’s follow-up novel, “Porno” — but Robert Carlyle, who played the unhinged sociopath Begbie, like Boyle, is all for it.

Dear Danny Boyle, Ewan McGregor Still Not Interested In ‘Trainspotting’ Sequel

Danny Boyle may still want to do a “Trainspotting” sequel from Irvine Welsh’s “Porno,” in a few years when everyone’s more old and gray, but Ewan McGregor — who was never really down with the idea in the first place even when asked years ago — hasn’t really changed his position or tune. He didn’t like “Porno” when it was written, he doesn’t like it now.

“I didn’t think the book was very good,” he told Moviefone.

MTV again, Kurt Loder, the same Fox Searchlight holiday party, we just wrote about.

The journo runs into Danny Boyle and starts chatting him up. Doesn’t reveal much to it, but drops this little juicy tidbit of information.

“[Boyle] he has to hook up for a new picture with his longtime colleague, the Danish curmudgeon/director Lars Von Trier.”

Danny Boyle and Lars Von Trier? Doing a movie together? What an odd pairing.

Danny Boyle Still Hoping To Do A ‘Trainspotting’ Sequel One Day If The Cast Will Agree To It

Danny Boyle obviously became famous stateside for the rock n’ roll tone of his second feature-length film, “Trainspotting,” which did merge and feature a lot of now iconic movie-music moments (with Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Underworld, New Order, etc.).

In the spring of 2007, Boyle talked about the possibility to a film sequel via Irvine Welsh’s (the author of “Trainspotting”) Porno,” which revisited the same characters in his heroin drama nine years later (characters from Welsh’s “Glue” were also present).
