Ridley Scott To Produce 4-Hour Mini-Series Adaptation Of Philip K. Dick’s ‘The Man In The High Castle’

Nearly three decades after Ridley Scott delivered his landmark “Blade Runner,” based on Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sleep, the director is returning to the author’s world and will be producing a new four hour mini-series based on his work.

“The Man In The High Castle” is being produced by Scott and the BBC and overseas rights are now up for sale (so hopefully it will reach North American television sets).

First Official Photos: ‘The Adjustment Bureau’ Starring Matt Damon & Emily Blunt

While we’ve already seen plenty of set-photos from “The Adjustment Bureau,” the George Nolfi-directed sci-fi-ish, thriller/romance starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt, Universal has finally released the first few official photos of the film.

Based off a short story by Philip K. Dick the film is due in theaters later this summer on July 30th.

Many of Dick’s stories have been transferred to the screen (“Blade Runner” and “Minority Report” being two of the better ones) and this plot, based off his story “The Adjustment Team” revolves around the character of David Norris (Damon), a young politician running for a seat in the senate.

Ridley & Tony Scott Creating ‘Bladerunner’ Web-Based Prequel Series

“Here is some news that will make fans of the 1982 science-fiction cult film “Blade Runner” shudder with either anticipation or trepidation.”

Seriously, potentially cool, potentially legacy-ruining (what isn’t these days?): Ridley Scott’s RSA Films announced that they are planning prequels to the venerable sci-fi film with a web series called, “Purefold.”

Ridley, Tony Scott and his son Luke are developing the series together with and independent studio called AG8.

Michael Fassbender Is A Basterd, ‘Watchmen’ DVD And Blu-Ray To Be Release On July 18th, ‘I Sell The Dead’ Trailer

Another poster for “Inglourious Basterds” has been unveiled in the form of a banner at the Cannes Film Festival. The poster features Michael Fassbender who stars as Lt. Archie Hicox, a British Army Officer who joins up with the Basterds. Of course, we’ll keep a lookout for it’s online debut. [ION Cinema]

Warner Home Video have announced that the “Watchmen” DVD and Blu-Ray will see a release on July 28th as well as an Ultimate Edition of “300” which will be out a week earlier.

Matt Damon To Reteam With ‘Bourne’ Writer For Robotic Sci-Fi Love Story

Hollywood is apparently weighing its options on packages pitched by stars themselves and hoping up to fill their 2010 line-up (since the writer’s strike will probably make 2009 one of the worst film years ever).

The first reunites Matt Damon and “Bourne Ultimatum” writer George Nolfi in a sci-fi love story called, “The Adjustment Bureau.” It will be Nolfi’s directorial debut and is loosely based on a Phillip K. Dick novel (the great sci-fi writer, who Hollywood has raped for ideas including the basis of “Blade Runner”).

Alanis Morissette has joined the cast of the semi autobiographical Phillip K. Dick adaptation “Radio Free Albemuth.”

The Canadian new-agey rocker will play Sylvia, a woman who shows up in the vision of a record label executive (Jonathan Scarfe) as a, wait for it… glamorous singer.

Directed by first-timer John Alan Simon, the film will also star Shea Whigham (“Wristcutters: A Love Story“), Katheryn Winnick (“Failure to Launch“) and Hanna Hall (2007’s “Halloween“).
