Yes, we’re on a “Che” kick, sue us. The unconventional, process-oriented and uncompromisingly dense and unsentimental Steven Soderbergh films, Part One: “The Argentine” and Part Two: “Guerilla” are some of our favorite films of 2008; there’s just nothing like them out there and there probably won’t be anytime soon. They’re a cinematic rebellion against tradition to put it bluntly.

But some of you are sick of hearing about this film so we’ll try and condense three planned posts into one.

New Scene From ‘Che’ Part One; ‘The Argentine,’ Plus Soderbergh Talks Screenplay And Visual Aesthetics

Indiewire has a fantastic interview with “Che” director Steven Soderbergh, a filmmaker they call very appropriately, a “one-man cinematic insurrection.”

We just finished reading the June ’06 draft of “The Argentine” and it’s remarkable how different it is. Almost the first 3/4 is very different and all of the black-and-white addresses to the United Nations are absent. Plus the Peter Buchman-penned screenplay is kind of littered with the cliches that are in very short supply in the final film version.

‘Che’ Writer Set To Pen Mafia Tale, ‘Jack Falcone,’ For Soderbergh To Exec-Produce

Peter Buchman, the writer behind Steven Soderbergh’s Che Guevara epic, “Che,” is set to adapt the bestselling mafia book, “Making Jack Falcone,” for Paramount with Soderbergh executive producing. The film will tell the story of Joaquin “Jack” Garcia, a Cuban-American FBI agent who had for shifting ethnicity’s as needed and successfully went undercover in the Gambino crime family as Jack Falcone.

Despite the tacky parallels to the Mike Newell directed “Donnie Brasco,” which told the true story of FBI agent Joe Pistone as he went undercover in the Bonnano crime family, we are pretty excited about this news.
