This is the case with the David Fincher film, “Panic Room,” which was released 20 years ago this week. It surely doesn’t feel like two decades have passed since Fincher, along with his cast of Jodie Foster, Kristen Stewart, Jared Leto, Forest Whitaker, and Dwight Yoakam, released the blockbuster thriller.

Many may not remember, but Nicole Kidman was originally cast in the lead role, but she left the project two weeks into filming due to a knee injury.

Another new year brings us another new comprehensive “Seen, Read” list of films, TV series, books, plays, and other media consumed by the acclaimed filmmaker. And for the astute among us, it allows for speculation galore as we get a peek into the viewing habits of one of the best filmmakers working today. So, with that out of the way, what the hell did Steven Soderbergh watch in 2021.

And for Ben Affleck, who not only stars in Fincher’s “Gone Girl” but has also been a successful director in his own right, he’s definitely learned some lessons from his former director. However, in a new interview with Variety, where Affleck and Fincher discuss the industry, it’s interesting to see how something Fincher learned from the set of “Panic Room” is a lesson that Affleck still remembers to this day.

But isolation in the age of pandemics and social distancing has taken on a new resonance and probably created a new kind of trauma that we’ll be considering the effects of for years.
