Not many people have seen the film, but one thing is for sure—NEON has hit the ball out of the park with the marketing of “Longlegs.” It’s especially commendable because clearly Nicolas Cage plays a vital role (and he’s seemingly under makeup even) and there is barely a glimpse at him in any of the trailers. But it’s working, and apparently the film is pretty damn good too.

Oz Perkin‘s “Longlegs” hasn’t even hit theaters yet, but NEON already wants to promote their next movie together. And that’s a sign that the distribution company expects big things from Perkin’s upcoming serial killer thriller. But before more “Longlegs” buzz, the scoop du jour: “The Monkey,” Perkin’s next horror film for NEON, will hit theaters next winter on February 21, 2025.

“Every year, there is another.” Dropped on Twitter last past weekend, a cryptic teaser that fans had to decipher and translate, Neon showed us all—even those who didn’t understand what they were seeing—the first look at “Longlegs.” An FBI horror thriller that sounds a little like “Silence Of The Lambs” in its mix of crime agencies and horror films, the movie is written and directed by Oz Perkins, the filmmaker behind “The Blackcoat’s Daughter,” “I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House” and episodes of “The Twilight Zone” (Perkins is also an actor and the son of classic Hollywood actor Anthony Perkins).

Two words capture the new season of “The Twilight Zone” with unfortunate clarity—overwritten and overdirected. Most anything Jordan Peele puts his name on, whether his own movies (“Get Out,” “Us”) or projects led by other talents (Nia DaCosta’s “Candyman” sequel) at least deserves consideration for quality of imagination and for the strength of vision.
