As far as Mexican filmmakers go, film fans often think of people like Guillermo del Toro, Alfonso Cuarón, and Alejandro González Iñárritu, commonly known as the Three Amigos. Though not as famous as the aforementioned Amigos, Reygadas has garnered worldwide acclaim, with his latest film “Our Time” touring the film festival circuit last year.

Carlos Reygada is definitely not a mainstream filmmaker. While his films are festival hits and have garnered the Mexican director critical acclaim, Reygada’s work is known for having a bit of a learning curve for viewers. However, once you understand how the filmmaker works, you’ll probably understand why many people consider his films masterpieces. And judging by the first trailer for his latest film, “Nuestro Tiempo (Our Time),” it doesn’t look like Reygada has changed much in the last six years.
